The Audi S8 is a sport version of Audi's flagship sedan, the A8. It is a full-size luxury sedan and was introduced in 1998, four years after the A8's introduction to the European market. It is only available as a four-door saloon/sedan. Its main market competitor is the Mercedes-Benz S63/65 AMG, and the BMW Alpina B7.

Recent Changes

At the same time of the A8's facelift in 2001, the S8 received the same cosmetic upgrades. This was the first model to be introduced to the North American market. The S8 was later discontinued in September 2002. A new S8 was previewed in the last quarter of 2005, and production commenced in June 2006.

Design quirks and oddities
