The subcompact Pontiac T1000 was a corporate clone to the Chevrolet Chevette and was introduced in 1981. Aside from a blacked-out grille and a larger lower bodyside exterior molding (and of course Pontiac nameplates), the T1000 was identical to the Chevette. The T1000 was renamed simply 1000 in 1983. The 1000 was discontinued part-way thru the 1987 model year, and was replaced by the front wheel drive Korean-built LeMans in 1988 that was based on a Daewoo design.
See the Chevrolet Chevette entry for more comments about the Pontiac T1000/1000.
