An electric bus is a bus powered by electricity.
There are two main electric bus categories:
- The trolleybus is a type of electric bus powered by two overhead electric wires, from which it draws electricity using two trolley poles.
- The stored-electricity bus:
- Battery electric bus. The main batteries can be stored inside the bus coach (where there is the electric motor), in a rear baset trailer to extend the range or in both. When the batteries in the baset are discharged, another charged baset can be attached to the bus to replace the first.
- Gyrobus.
