The Abarth 1000 Pininfarina Recrod was a vehicle designed and built in 1960 to participate in the Abarth factory's attempts to set a number of international and world speed records. The 1000 Pininfarina Record was intended to compliment the more successful Monoposto da Record in the FIA's class G. With features such as headlights and larger air intakes, the 1000 Pininfarina Record was designed to be the more versatile of Abarth's two 1 litre record cars. The vehicle is based around the chassis of a Fiat 600 with an aerodynamic body designed by Pininfarina. The Abarth 1000 Pininfarina Record was tested on Italy's Monza circuit and set a number of international records in 1960.
Engine
The Abarth 1000 Pininfarina Record uses the same Fiat 982cc DOHC engine as the similar Monoposto da Record. Modified from the block of a Fiat 600, the engine produced an impressive 105 horsepower that propelled the 1000 Pininfarina Record to a top speed of 220 kilometers per hour.
