Hi, I wasn't entirely sure where to post this so I thought I'd post it here. I have a couple files that are 1080p with surround sound audio. The file is an mkv file, x264 codec, and uses 6-channel audio (I think one said it was DTS?) Anyway, I'm trying to convert this file into something that can playback on my TV in one of two methods.

The first method was to convert it to a .TS file to play on my Sonicview HD8000. I loaded up one of the HD files (a .tpr 1080i file) recorded by this satellite receiver/DVR onto my computer and saw that it uses mpeg-4 video with ac3 6-channel audio. I tried re-encoding using Total Video Converter, but with all the options I couldn't find one that would let me preserve the surround sound audio. I tried an option where you left the audio as it was and re-encoded video using mpeg-4 and the file wasn't able to playback on the reciever. This method is preferred as I think it is the most likely to work if I could get some direction.

The second method was to try to convert it to a .mp4 file to play through TVersity on the Xbox360, but again I couldn't seem to find a way to preserve both HD Video and 6-channel audio.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! If you need more info from me, let me know.
