Criticisms
"Engine lacks mid-rev response and is noisy and thrashy, no left footrest, some reflections in windscreen at night, hatch not available yet." The Sydney Morning Herald
"The petrol engine is the weakest link, particularly with its five-speed gearbox." CarsGUIDE
"At 1380kg, the CDX manual has a safer, more substantial feel than some of its rivals, but it's clear the extra beef dents performance." CarsGUIDE
Generations

Current Generation: (2010–present)
By the end of 2010, the Cruze will be expected to be built in the Elizabeth plant alongside the Commodore and also, the hatchback and possibly, a wagon version will be introduced. There's no word for any HSV model though.
After following some criticisms Holden received, Holden is forced to tweak its Cruze for its update. Holden will offer its new turbocharged engines that will offer better fuel economy.
First Generation/Origins (2009–2010)
The new Cruze began sale in Australia to replace the lacklustre Viva and the Astra. Like the Astra, the Cruze came with three trim levels, the CD, CDX and the CDX diesel. It came with 6 airbags (dual front, side and side curtain airbags) and electronic stability control and those features were lacked in other small cars on the current market. It offered class leading fuel economy of 7 litres per 100 kilometres for the petrol version and 5.6 litres per 100 kilometres for a diesel version and the CD Manual is priced at $20,990 and is directly positioned at the Toyota Corolla, Mitsubishi Lancer and the Mazda3 but it only comes in sedan form in the moment. Currently, the Cruze is imported from the Bupeyong-gu plant in South Korea.
Much of the groundwork is done in Germany along with millions of kilometres of testing in the UK, Sweden, North America, China, Korea and Australia. The Cruze shares its mechanical underpinnigs from an Opel Astra.
