- In 2006, Mitsubishi has dropped the price of the entry-level ES Manual from $34,990 to $27,990. The price cuts are accross the range with a VR-X Manual dropping $1500 to $36,990, the LX dropping $3,500 off to $42,990 and the GT dropping $3,000 off to $44,990.

Safety
In 2005 when ANCAP tested the Mitsubishi 380, it was given 4 stars (11.40 points out of 16). Protection from serious chest and leg injury is marginal for the driver. The 380 scored 15.69 points out of 16 in the side impact crash but wasn't eligible for a pole impact test. There is a slight risk of serious abdomen injury for the driver. The 380 also scored 1 star for pedestrian protection.

Third generation (Series III)
Sales of the 380 were steady at 1000 units a month and the 380 was given another facelift in less than 3 years to offer more 'bling'. Prices have risen by $1,000 AUD for the ES model but not on all models. The LX model has been dropped in favour of the new GT-L. Mitsubishi Australia has also introduced two limited edition models, the ES Sports and VRX Fusion Burst. All models receive Electronic Stability Control in 2008.
The ES Sports gains 17 inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, an upgraded sports suspension, a sunroof and Bluetooth connectivity and it costs the same as the ES and the ES's standard features consist of front and side airags, 16 inch alloy wheels, 6 speaker in-dash CD stereo, anti-skid brakes, automatic climate control air conditioning, electric windows/mirrors, trip computer, cruise control, electric driving seat and steering wheel audio controls.

This is Mitsubishi Australia's desperate bid to boost sales from the brink. The Series III 380 is loaded with features and more emphasis is on limited edition models to increase customer appeal but the sales are not much good. In 2008, the Clovelly Park plant had shut down. [1]

The Series II 380 underwent price cuts throughout the range. The entry-level ES is $7,000 off its original price, $1,500 off the price of the VR-X, $3,000 off the price of the LX and $3,000 off the price of the GT.
