I agree. The GTO that you feature here is not a "real" GTO. You should have a wiki section for 64-72 GTOs. <Adam from Simi Valley, CA>

The opening paragraph of this wiki entry states that poor sales contributed to the cancelation of the GTO after the 2006 model year.  This is simply untrue.  As th owner of a 2004 GTO, I knew when I got the car that the series would terminate with the 2006 model and the projected approximate production numbers for '04, '05 & '06 were public information from the beginning.  The GTO was built in limited quantity as part of the end-of-life of the Holden Monaro, which was being terminated because it would be too expensive to modify to meet upcoming regulations.  They stopped making GTOs because they were tearing down the assembly line in preparation for a new platform!  While it is very true that poor marketing, dealer gouging and what many considered to be too-bland styling (remember, it was roughly a decade old design when it landed in the States) contributed to sluggish sales and finally to heavy discounting, to say that this in any way contributed to the line's termination is simply wrong.
BTW, Lutz has publicly stated that he is bringing the GTO back after the new Camaro is on the streets.

This article just focuses on the new GTO, what of the older GTO? 0-172 23:59, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

You bring up a good point, especially since the 2004 GTO will be discontinued after 2006. Perhaps we should incorporate content on the classic GTO now. Pastrami on Ry 17:25, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
