The Honda HR-V is a Crossover mini SUV produced by Honda from 1999 to 2006. The HR-V was introduced to cater for the demand for vehicles with the benefits of SUVs (in particular its bigger brother the Honda CR-V) such as increased cargo room, higher visibility, along with the maneuverability, performance and fuel economy of a smaller car (such as the Honda Civic). See Wikicars' comprehensive Honda HR-V Review. Recent ChangesThe HR-V was updated in 2002 with a new interior (black faux suede interior and silver dash) and some exterior modifications including a deeper front grille. Styles and Major OptionsThe HR-V was originally released as the "Joymachine" available as 3 door 2WD only. A 5 door option as well as VTEC and VTEC 4WD versions followed shortly after. The 3 door model was discontinued in 2003. Available in manual and CVT automatic. Various additional options were available including 16 inch alloys, remote central locking and fog lights. ReliabilityWarranty options and scheduled maintainence information should be mentioned here. SafetyAlthough the HR-V has not be assessed through EuroNCAP, it is considered a relatively safe vehicle. Safety features include ABS brakes with EBD as well as front airbags. PhotosAdd Photos of the vehicle here. Please make sure not to use copyrighted photos. ColorsList the colors that the particular <MODEL> is offered in. Main CompetitorsHybrid ModelsThe HR-V, sometimes known as "Hybrid Recreational Vehicle" is often mistaken as a hyrbid vehicle. The term hybrid in this case refers to the type of vehicle, in otherwords, a crossover. Unique AttributesA relatively rare site on the road. One of not many geniune crossover SUVs available around early 2000s. The only 3 door SUV produced by Honda, the HR-V is surprisingly close to the original design concept. CriticismsThe HR-V has been criticised for a relative low number of sales due to marketing aiming the vehicle toward a younger demographic. Other criticisms include the lack of engine options, in particular a diesel engine. GenerationsFill in as many as appropriate. Add more if necessary and pictures wherever applicable.
