Born in 1955, The Toyota Crown is the oldest nameplate in Toyota’s current line-up. It was sold in the United States during the late 1950s and up until 1971. Exports to Europe began in 1964 with the first cars going to Finland. Other European countries which saw imports of the Crown included the Netherlands and Belgium. The United Kingdom was another market until the early 1980s. Australia was another important export market for the Crown - It was also exported to Canada for a few years - 1965-68. In many markets when the Crown was luxury very expensive car.

Generation after generation, Crown is still the most popular company car in Japan and it is a line of full-size luxury sedans It also serves as taxis, police and government officials cars, but its presence is bounded in domestic market. One word summarizes its character - Conservative.

The range was primarily available in Japan and some other Asian countries, it was manufactured there from the mid 1960s until the late 1980s using many local components and also sold in some markets as another local brands as FAW in china which produced the crown Majesta which its own another name.

Most models of the car are distinguishable by a front 'Crown' badge, but the common Toyota badge is usually used on the rear.

Recent Changes

• For MY 2010, the Crown Majesta is completely redesigned. The new car is 75 mm longer than the outgoing model and will come in two engine choices. The first is a 4.3-litre V8 which is fitted to four-wheel-drive models with a 6 Super ECT transmission. The other is a 4.6-litre V8 with an 8-speed electronically-controlled gearbox. Only two-wheel-drive models will get this engine. Prices range from ¥6,100,000 to ¥6,900,000. [1]
