Gutbrod was a German car manufacturer. The firm was founded by Wilhelm Gutbrod in 1926. It originally built motorcycles, from 1933 to 1935 Standard Superior cars were built with rear-mounted engines.
The small Gutbrod Superior model was produced from 1950 to 1954 using own manufactured, front-mounted twin-cylinder two-stroke engines (593cc and 663 cc). 7726 cars were produced until the factory was forced to close. The car was developed by Mister Scherenberg during the period of Walter Gutbrod. Mister Scherenberg came from Mercedes and went finally back to Mercedes.
