The Ascari FG-T is a supercar produced by boutique British manufacturer Ascari in 1995.
Foundations
Ascari released the FG-T in 1995 at the world's motorshows, where the styling and promise grabbed the headlines of the world's press.
The car utilised a Chevrolet V8, mid-mounted, to produce 286 BHP. A few deposits were taken at the motorshows, but very few F-GTs were delivered as the project morphed into the more popular, powerful and accomplished Ecosse.
External styling was identical to the Ecosse, however the headlights were covered (but these were obviously removeable), and the alloy wheel design was simpler.
The FG-T was of use to the company, though - firstly, as a test base for the Ecosse, and secondly, as the company's race car, driven in the European GT championship by Ascari's owner, Klaas Zwaart. The racecar made use of the Chevrolet V8's inifinate tweakability, and was moderately successful.
