The design was penned by Albrecht von Goertz, a German born, American resident industrial designer, was later went on to design the Datsun 240Z. The Toyota 2000GT coupe was also based on one of his prototypes. The 507 was produced in two production runs; Series 1 and Series 2. The Series 2 cars had an updated dashboard.
