The Saturn Relay was introduced in 2005 to take the place of the L-Series discontinued in 2002. The Relay is mechanically identical to GM's other minivans, the Buick Terraza, Chevrolet Uplander, and Pontiac Montana SV6. All of these vans received revisions for the 2005 model year, but their basic structure dates from 1997. All three models are produced at the Doraville, Georgia Assembly Plant. The Relay was the first Saturn not to utilize the polymer body panels that aid in dent resistance.

2007 Make Model
Recent Changes
For 2007, the Relay adopts a 3 model lineup. The Relay-1 is intended as a value-priced model, with its base MSRP in the low $20s. A 5-year, 100,000 mile warrenty with roadside assistance and transportation was added to all GM models for 2007. The 3.5 liter V6 has been replaced by a 3.9 liter unit producing 240 hp and 240 lb-ft of torque. This gives the Relay more power than its Ford and Dodge rivals, but not quite as much as Toyota, Honda, or Hyundai.
Stability control becomes standard on all models. New 17" wheels are available and some interior options become standard equipment on the Relay-3. Four new colors are available.

Future
The Relay was intended to be redesigned on the Lamda platform along with the Chevrolet Uplander. The Relay, however, will be discontinued for the 2008 model year due to poor sales, and the Doraville, GA Assembly Plant will be closed. The Relay will be replaced by the 2008 Outlook crossover SUV.
