Volvo LCP2000 (Light Component Prototype) was a concept car built by Volvo in 1983. It was designed to have a very low weight and use many components in aluminum, plastic and even a magnesium engine block. The engine was a turbo diesel that also could run on bio-diesel.
(This chunk is lifted directly from wikipedia, in the hopes that someone, somewhere, will know more about this interesting concept car. I saw one on an old episode of Connections by James Burke, and had to find out more)
