The 480 is a 4-seat, 3-door hatchback produced by Volvo. It's marketed as a coupe, even though it has looks between a liftback and a estate. This is the only Volvo to have pop-up headlights.

Development

Press launch first began in 1985. However, the car was seen at the 1986 Geneva Motor Show and was available to the public by 1987. The 480 was first planned for North America, but it would take some time due to currency exchange rates. This is the second Volvo to have the sport back styling, the first being the Volvo P1800 and the third being the Volvo C30. In 1988, the Turbo model came out. In 1992, the 480 got new mirrors and new headrests for the back seats. In the same year, special editions came out. Finally, the production of the 480 ended in 1995.
