Porsche Cayenne Hybrid

Porsche has joined other automakers and announced plans to build a Hybrid version of its Cayenne SUV. Production of the Cayenne Hybrid will combine a gasoline engine with electric traction motor(s). Rumors that Porsche have discussed partnering with Volkswagen to build the powertrain are unconfirmed. This would not be surprising though as the Cayenne has a sibling in the Volkswagen Toureg. The two companies have a long and friendly history with Porsche family and board members currently moving to increase their stake of Volkswagen ownership.
The launch date is expected before the end of 2009.
