Reliability and Maintenance

There have been numerous reports of problems with the brakes on the 2005 and 2006 G6 models. Most likely it is an issue with the calipers. GM is refusing to honor its warranty and has repeatedly denied claims for defective rotars and calipers. The problem seems to be wide spread and there is currently a federal investigation into the issue. Brake pads on many 2005 and 2006 models only last for approximately 10,000 miles. After a certain mileage the brakes begin to shutter and slide. GM claims the problem is not mechanical but maintenance related and thus denies claims on this basis. However, most qualified mechanics believe the problem is related to faulty rotars and calipers and is certainly a manufacteurs defect which should be covered by the standard bumper to bumper warranty.
