The MID 4 (type I), which was unveiled at the Frankfurt Show in September 1985, combined the functions of both show model and experimental car. The designers aimed at creating a 4WD Super Sports model with maximum maneuverability. Later, the type II was unveiled in 1987 with modifications to improve efficiency, such as a vertically mounted engine.
