The 2005 '''Mercury Meta-One''' was a Concept vehicle built by [[Mercury]]. The Mercury Meta-One was scheduled to go into production late 2006 as a 2007 Model and also scheduled to replace the [[Ford Freestyle]]. But the Meta-One was never put into production due to Fords Way Forward Plan. The closest thing people ever saw to a Production version of the Meta-One was a Camouflaged test vehicle that was indeed later proved to be a Mercury Meta-One. Ford Later stated that the Meta-One in camouflage was just a test vehicle being used to test Ford's new 3.5L Cyclone V6 Engine. Its truly sad Mercury Meta-One was never put into production and replaced the Ford Freestyle because it would have given Mercury a truly unique vehicle to call their own.
The Mercury Meta One was a concept car created by the Ford Motor Company brand, Mercury, first introduced at the 2005 North American International Auto Show. The Meta One was the first PZEV diesel-hybrid concept vehicle.
 
It featured a twin-turbocharged V6 diesel engine that had an electric motor in the modular hybrid transmission. The torque of the Meta One achieved up to 431 ft·lbf and was 97% cleaner than the Tier I emissions standard for NOx .
 
Like other concept cars, the Meta One featured numerous futuristic gadgets. For instance, the vehicle's key doubled as a PDA; it was designed to also store emergency contacts. The Meta One also featured built-in Sirius Satellite Radio and a roaming always-on Wi-Fi connection to deliver to the driver updated traffic conditions and real-time reports .
 
The Meta One will not be released as production vehicle.
