Third generation (YYYY–YYYY)
The last generation of the RX-7. It feature new smoother styling and an ever more powerful rotary engine. The rotary engine's light weight helped it achieve good balance which aided in it's handling.
Second generation (YYYY–YYYY)
The second generation RX-7 got bigger and heavier, but it still retained it's good handling. Styling was smooth and used pop up headlamps with small opening. There was a Turbo 1(which was only available in Japan) and a Turbo 2(which was sold in all markets). A convertible model was also introduced.
First Generation/Origins (YYYY–YYYY)
The RX-7 started out as a light but not very powerful sports coupe. It used a rotary engine which has been found in every generation of the RX-7 as one of it's main points. North America only received a two seater coupe while other markets also got a 2+2 model.
