Toyota RAV4
The early success of the RAV4 paved the way for other compact SUVs such as the Honda CR-V, the Ford Escape/Mazda Tribute, and the Subaru Forester. Its name stands for "Recreational Activity Vehicle, 4-wheel drive," although not all models have four-wheel drive as this is optional in some countries . The Toyota RAV4 underwent a redesign for the 2006 model year. It still has a 2.4L four-cylinder engine, which now produces 166-hp, instead of 161-hp, like last year's model. Unique to North America, the new RAV4 also includes a new 3.5L V6 engine from the Toyota Avalon, boosting its power to 269-hp.(more...)

2007 Toyota Highlander
The Toyota Highlander debuted in 2001 as a mid-sized SUV between the RAV4 and the 4Runner. Based on the same platform used to build the Toyota Camry, it made the most of its combination of carlike handling and utilitarian cargo space to achieve popularity and success. Although it is somewhat lacking in power and a little short on cosmetic flair, the Highlander has managed to overcome these minor flaws and has become Toyota's best-selling SUV. (more...) (more...)
