Jump Leads or Jumper cables are used when trying to jump start an automobile. They are a pair of wires with crocidile clips at either end, these are then connected to the car. The black wire is negative and the red wire is positive. Most car manuals recommend connecting the negative wire last and disconecting it first. The better quality jump leads have solid copper crocidile clips where as the lesser-quality are made of different materials such as copper-plated steel.
