Recent Changes

The HR-V was updated in 2002 with a new interior (black faux suede interior and silver dash) and some exterior modifications including a deeper front grille.

Styles and Major Options

The HR-V was originally released as the "Joymachine" available as 3 door 2WD only. A 5 door option as well as VTEC and VTEC 4WD versions followed shortly after. The 3 door model was discontinued in 2003.

Although the HR-V has not be assessed through EuroNCAP, it is considered a relatively safe vehicle. Safety features include ABS brakes with EBD as well as front airbags.

Hybrid Models

The HR-V, sometimes known as "Hybrid Recreational Vehicle" is often mistaken as a hyrbid vehicle. The term hybrid in this case refers to the type of vehicle, in otherwords, a crossover.

Unique Attributes

A relatively rare site on the road. One of not many geniune crossover SUVs available around early 2000s. The only 3 door SUV produced by Honda.

Criticisms

The HR-V has been criticised for a relative low number of sales due to aiming the vehicle toward younger buyers. Other criticisms include the lack of engine options, in particular a diesel engine.
