Transmission
The first fiat 127 series was only avalible with a 4-speed manual transmission. With the introduction of the Mk. 2 the gear ration on the 4-speed was lowered to give better gas millage, and an optional 5-speed was introduced. The same 4- and 5-speed was also put in the Mk. 3.

Generations
First Generation/Origins (1971—1977)
The first generation of the Fiat 127 featured in 3 different styles. The standard 3-door sedan, the 2-door hatch and the fiat 127 Special. The 3-door version had a large tailgate and folding rear seats. This meant it had a luggage space of 1.070 liters with the rear seats down. The space with rear seats up was 371 liters which is the same as the 2-door version.
