A common reference to air conditioning. Climate control systems have evolved from flip-out quarter windows to complex, electronic systems using temperature and humidity sensors to maintain a comfortable environment inside the cabin. The first automobile to offer air conditioning were 1941 Packards.
Innovations
The 1998 Lexus LX470 has a hydrocarbon sensor that automatically activates the cabin air recirculation if exhaust fumes are detected.
