The Cars Under 10k Concept was conceived by George Christman early 2004 while researching the net for an RV. His frustration with existing online classified sites — clumsy to use, impersonal, steep costs, overwhelmed with dealers, and more of a research environment than a viable matchmaking site for buyers/sellers (citing the lack of local presence and local inventories) — convinced him that there was a better way to use the internet to research, comparison shop, and purchase a new or used vehicle.

Mr. Christman assembled a core development team of colleagues from RPI, and the three set out to revolutionize the online classified market for motorized vehicles. The founding members spent the next two years sacrificing compensation and investing over $100,000 in personal capital to build a better service. American Ad Trader was incorporated in late 2005.

In the fourth quarter of 2005, the founders attracted a veteran entrepreneur in the software industry to lead the company through the next formative business growth stages, and have surrounded themselves with a cadre of known industry players as strategic business advisor's.

CarsUnder10k offers local cars under 10 grand, and also boosts free ad placement for consumers. CarsUnder10k.com is the only local classified site which specializes in all vehicles under 10grand. In the middle of 2006, the site also went on to expand there pricing tiers into multiple ranges. 0 to 10k dollars, 10 to 12k dollars, and 12 to 15k dollars.
