Generations (1975-1980)

The 1975-1980 Buick Skyhawk is corporate twin to Chevrolet Monza and its varients Oldsmobile Starfire and Pontiac Sunbird. Skyhawk is based on the Chevrolet Vega and shares its wheelbase and width. Unlike the Monza and Sunbird, the Skyhawk was available only as a 3-door hatchback. They were offered in various sporty stripe-and-decal packages such as the Free Spirit and the Road Hawk. The Skyhawk is of particular note among the GM H-bodies in that while the others all offered 4, 6 and 8 cylinder engines, the Skyhawk was available only with the 110 hp 3.8L (231) 2bbl V6 engine. The Skyhawk would be discontinued after 1980 and replaced by a new J-car design in 1982.

See the Chevrolet Monza entry for further comments about the 1975-1980 Buick Skyhawk.
