The Bajai (or Bemo) is a form of Auto rickshaw that is indigenous to Indonesia. It is used as commercial public transport and usually found in a distinctive orange livery with a black hard top and plastic windows.
The Bajai sits on only three wheels like a trike and finds its motive force in two-stroke engines. It sits two passengers behind the driver and is most often found around Jakarta.
Criticism
The Bajai is often criticized for the heavy pollution coming out from its exhaust. This can affect the health of the pedestrians in Jakarta, which force people to buy cars. Another criticism is the noisy engine sound which does not comfortable for some people.
