After the first generation the Chaser was only available as a 4-door sedan. The Chaser was based on the 1976 Toyota Mark 2 platform. It shared the same chassis as the Toyota Cressida, the Toyota Mark 2, and the Toyota Cresta. The Chaser was a competitor to the Nissan Skyline.
Generations
First Generation
When the Chaser first came out it had four chassis codes. Models made for the Chaser were larger versions of Toyota sedans. All the engines in the Chaser had only single cam engines.
Second Generation
Now the Chaser only had two chassis codes. The only body styles were the 4-door sedan and the 4-door hardtop. The Avante trim level used Michelin tires and sport tuned suspension. The Chaser had a new competitor called the Nissan Leopard.
