The Nissan Altima Hybrid is a hybrid version of Nissan's popular Altima sedan, introduced for the 2007 model year and expected to be released in the early spring of 2007. The Smyrna, Tennessee plant is being made ready to assemble the new Hybrid. Estimated U.S. sales are 100,000 units over 5 years.

The Altima Hybrid expects to license the drive system technology from Toyota, however they will continue to offer the same 2.5-liter engine and transmission as the current Altimas. Although they are rivals, using Toyota's technology will move the Altima Hybrid to market faster and Toyota can recapture some of their technology investment.

Recent Changes

The Nissan Altima is considered a new vehicle for 2007. The Altima will maintain its current high performance but offer the hybrid components which will give better fuel economy and lower emissions.
