Invader Car's Talk Page
Welcome to Wikicars!
Hi there, Invader Car, and welcome to Wikicars! I'm a regular moderator and contributor here, and when I notice on the recent changes log that a new editor has registered, I like to send them a welcome message - that's how I ended up on your talk page.
There are a few useful links that you might want to look at, designed to help newcomers to Wikicars learn the ropes:
Here are a few templates on Wikicars that I find particularly helpful when I start a new page:
Here are a few features of Wikicars that I find particularly helpful:
- If you leave a message on a talk page, you can sign it with four tildes (~), which will automatically produce your name and a date stamp when you save the page.
- The "Show preview" button allows you to look at what your post will look like before you save it - that way, you can proofread what you've written and not have to back and correct spelling mistakes, failed links, etc.
- You can create a watchlist for yourself that will keep a record of any changes made to a page that interests you.
There are plenty of other features and facets of Wikicars, many of which I probably haven't even discovered myself, so have fun looking around and finding them.
If you need help, ask me on my talk page.
Again, welcome and thanks for adding to our community! -MQuan 13:05, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi Invader, Thanks for the work on some of the truck pages. We need more trucks expertise here. Is that an area of strength for you? LuvWikis 15:44, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

Helpme
Helpme Question: May I be a sysop now? Or, do I have to wait a bit and why?
- Let me sort things out. you are asking to become a sysop? Enzo Worshipper (Talk to me + Contribs) 13:36, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
- Please see your nomination: Wikicars:Requests for adminship --Enzo Worshipper (Talk to me + Contribs) 13:53, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
RfA
Your request was tabled because, at the moment, we have enough Adminstrators. Your nomination will once again become active when the site gains more traffic and more users. Enzo Worshipper (Talk to me + Contribs) 20:54, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Invader Car. By "tabled," I just meant to lay aside for future discussion. Sorry for any confusion. -Nidhi 11:44, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
Ford Explorer Sport Trac
I don't see any reason to delete this page. The Ford Explorer Sport Trac is still a current 2007 model, and there is some useful information on the page. Whatever info is not there is for the community to fill out. We shouldn't only restrict the pages we keep to those that are fully fleshed out. Furthermore, I added a current picture to the page. - Pastrami on Ry 16:44, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- I agree. I don't think we should be deleting any of the models, past, present, or future. Afterall, we want to be the authoritative wiki on ALL things automotive. -Nidhi 15:31, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
Edit count
I see you've already gone to your user contributions page, so I think you're on the right track. =) As far as getting an exact count, I'm not sure. You can always eyeball it or export it into Excel. Hope that helps. -Nidhi 15:33, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
- The easiest way is probably to view your contributions page with a smaller per-page count. Mine is defaulted to 500, but by viewing yours in the range of 20 posts per page, it looks like you've got about 132 edits so far. - Pastrami on Ry 19:05, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
Ford Crown Victoria talk page
Hey there IC, I reverted your changes to the Ford Crown Victoria talk page. First of all, while the question the anonymous user left could have probably been worded better and less capitalized, it was still a valid question that pertained to the model, and another user browsing the site may have had an answer for it. While model talk pages may, in the future, be reserved for more policy- or content-related discussions, any sort of productive correspondence on them at this point in time is fine.
At the very least, I wouldn't have considered that question "vandalism," as it seemed to be an honest request for information. - Pastrami on Ry 22:12, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
Speedy Deletion template
I also wanted to talk to you about the Speedy Deletion template you've been implementing on some of the pages on Wikicars.
As Nidhi mentioned above, we would, first of all, rather not be deleting any content at this point, as our site is still relatively young, and we'd like to encourage more building up of content, even if they are stubs. Even then, the Ford Explorer Sport Trac page had some substance to it, so I wouldn't have considered it a bad page. Incomplete? Yes. But incomplete pages, in my opinion, do not warrant deletion. If that were the case, much of our content would have to be deleted, because, being that this is a wiki site, how does one ever come to the conclusion that a page is "complete enough" not to be deleted, when everything here is eligible for improvement and updating?
This brings me to my next point: in your request to have the Ford Crown Victoria talk page deleted, you argued that it "is a really bad talk page and it needs to be deleted." This is extremely subjective and ambiguous, and it therefore is insufficient justification for deletion. By this reasoning, anyone may request that any page on Wikicars be deleted simply because they feel it is "really bad." Granted, the Crown Victoria talk page only featured a poorly worded question in all capital letters, but I think if a request for deletion is to be taken seriously, one must be much more specific in one's reasons for it.
Thirdly, I want to say that I don't think having a speedy deletion template is a bad idea. However, I don't think it is necessary at this point in time, for reasons mentioned above (still too early to begin deleting content). Also, in preparation for its usage in the future, I would recommend a bit of clarification in the text you have written for it:
- Assuming that the person nominating the page for speedy deletion is the one including the template on that page, then the following line of text is unnecessary:
- "If no reason for speedy deletion exists, consider nominating this material through one of the other deletion processes."
- If, indeed, no reason for speedy deletion exists, why would the person posting the template even post it in the first place? If someone posts this template, it must be assumed that there is, in fact, a legitimate reason for deletion.
Lastly, if and when we eventually do decide to begin deleting pages, we will only begin to nominate pages for deletion after we have come up with a concrete set of criteria for it. This will make the "reasons for deletion" much clearer, and we may be more assured that pages will not be nominated without due cause. As it stands now, with no such criteria, people may feel free to nominate whatever page they choose for deletion and offer a variety of reasons why it should be so.
IC, your efforts are not wasted. These are great ideas, and your eagerness to implement them is nice to see. However, these are also issues that need to be discussed a bit more before we go forward with them. Otherwise, keep up the good work. - Pastrami on Ry 22:45, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

Ford F-Series
Absolutely. As it stands, the article only seems to put focus on the F150, at the expense of the 250, 350, 450, 650 and 750 series. We should also further expand the reviews section for the article and include the aforementioned models. Red marquis 10:00, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
Featured Member section
Sure. You can nominate yourself here. The Featured Members are discussed, voted on, and if approved, they are then featured on the homepage. I do ask that you update your user page. We ask that all featured members share a little something about themselves on their user page before they are featured...nothing fancy just a couple of tidbits. If you need help getting started, please refer to 0-172 and Red marquis's user pages. Both have done an excellent job updating and maintaining user pages. Thanks! -Nidhi 12:52, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
Main Page Feature
Hey, no problem man. Keep up the good work! Also, why don't you fill out your user page with some info about yourself, so other users can find out a little bit more about you? - Pastrami on Ry 21:19, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
