My concern about an electric vehicle is not range in California, it is range up north where January temperatures are below freezing all day long. A vast quantity of energy is needed for passenger comfort and most importantly, for defrosting the windows. I would like to see the figures, but it just stands to reason that the battery drain would be very high if the battery is used for restive heating.

If I owned a plug in hybrid in my climate, I would assume that it would run primarily on gasoline in the winter.
