Main Page protected??

In a new WIKI you shouldn't protect anything. And if you protect it, at least take care of it!!. FIX YOUR MAIN PAGE. You haven't the number of articles and... where are the photos??.

One cannot upload photos. :-( --HybridBoy 20:41 20 Mar 2007 (UTC)
No, not everyone can upload photos/edit the homepage. You can upload pictures to the model-specific page, though - and then nominate that vehicle or review to be featured on the homepage. you can also nominate yourself, or another community member that has shown a great deal of passion for the site. Please refer to the following links:

fix typos?

the snippet from the featured review for the BMW 3 series contains two typos. the first is in the last sentence of the first paragraph. the word "uncomperable" should either be changed to "uncomparable" or "incomparable" (both technically correct). on the actual review page, i already changed it to "incomparable," just because i think it sounds a little nicer.

then, in the very next sentence, one of two things could be done: 1) change the word "rate" to "rates" to maintain subject-verb consistency ("A summary... rates"); or 2) remove "A summary of all" so that the new sentence reads "Reviewers on Autos.com rate..."

i only thought to mention these since they're right on the front page of the site. i've already made the changes on the actual review page, but the front page is restricted so i couldn't do anything there.

List of Manufacturers

I am brand new here, and looking at the list of manufacturers on the main page, I noticed the lack of quite a few auto manufacturers. Those missing include Peugeot, Citroen, Renault, Pagani, Noble, Koenigsegg(you may not know of this manufacturer) and worst of all (to me), Spyker. I would like to know the reason behind the exclusion of these auto manufacturers. 0-172 20:03, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

Hello 0-172! First of all, welcome to Wikicars! =) Secondly, those manufacturers are not being excluded. They can be accessed off the main page by clicking on Search by Make. Thanks! -Nidhi 16:33, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

I have also noticed the absence of Qvale and DeTamaso(maker of the pantera), Ace, Cunningham, Morgan, Ascari. Skoda, Vauxhall and frustratingly TVR. 0-172 1:20, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

Spyker

For the company Spyker, there is the old company by the name of Spyker, and there is the new company by the name of Spyker Cars. Should I keep all condensed into one article or create another article for the newer company? 0-172 20:41, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

Infoboxes

Someone please tell me, are there any infoboxes for cars at all on this site? If not why? So far from what i've seen, alot of the content is info copied/Transwikified strait from Wikipedia and it seems you lost the infoboxes on the way. This is an auto wiki, is it not?0-172 21:03, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

Does anyone know how to become an administrator here? 0-172 1:49, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

Featured Member

Is there going to be any sort of nomination for Featured Member? 0-172 6:07, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Sure. Feel free to start. Perhaps we should nominate on the Garage Talk page? How often should we select someone new? Monthly, twice per month? LuvWikis 03:35, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

My thought is that a new Featured member should be chosen monthly. 0-172 23:01, 29 Decmber 2006 (UTC)

I think we should try to change the Featured Member more frequently...weekly or biweekly, perhaps. I think it will inspire more new members to continue to contribute and become Wikicars Superstars. We change the Featured Model and Featured Model Review every week to week and a half, so maybe to keep things more consistent, we can setup a nomination process in Garage Talk for those pieces, as well. -Nidhi 18:07, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Changing the featured member less frequently than the featured articles is a good idea. Maybe a bi-weekly change would be a good time period for outstanding users to show themselves. If we find that we're running out of a diverse pool of users and the same people are always nominated we can just make it once a month. Speaking of the featured spots on the main page, how have you guys liked the featured articles and reviews. Do you like the frequency of rotation and are the selections good ones? --MQuan 20:16, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

I've set up nomination sections in the garage talk section for the featured user and the featured article sections. 0-172 00:27, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

Logo copyvio?

I'm interested to see this site. I found it when I was thinking there should be a wiki to cover the material in the Haynes Manual.

The logo looks like it is swiped from Autos.com. BenFrantzDale 22:28, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
