The Nissan Tiida is a compact automobile manufactured by Nissan, replacing both the long-running Pulsar and the Sunny models in its home market as of September 30, 2004. The range consists of a five-door hatchback and a four-door sedan called the Nissan Tiida Latio. The Tiida is not based on the Nissan C platform like the Renault Mégane, but rather the Nissan B platform with the wheelbase stretched.

Its styling was previewed with the Nissan C-Note show car a year before its launch. The models are characterized by being quite tall, a trend that resurfaced in the late 1990s. In North America, it is called the Versa. North and South American models of the Tiida uses a DOHC 1.8 L engine and is assembled at Nissan's Aguascalientes, Mexico assembly plant.

In China, the Tiida is produced by the Dongfeng Motor Company, a joint venture between Nissan and a local company.

There is a 1.5 liter version of the car offered in Singapore with a 1.5 L I4 QR15DE engine.

Nissan Versa

The Nissan Versa is the North American version of the Tiida, going on sale starting with the 2007 model year in North America. It is available in sedan or hatchback form.

The North American Versa debuted at the 2006 North American International Auto Show in January of the same year. The hatchback model will be introduced first, with the sedan arriving later at the end of the year. Both will be 2007 models. The Versa is powered by a 1.8 L I4 engine producing 120 hp (89 kW) and 125 ft·lbf (169 N·m). Three transmissions will be offered; a 4-speed automatic, a continuously variable transmission, and a 6-speed manual. It will be the only car in its class (in the North American market) to offer bluetooth and a 6-speed transmission as an option. It is rumored that the 2008 model year may bring an SE or SE-R version with the 1.8 liter engine, making a little more power, an upgraded suspension, and ultra-low sulfur diesel engines. Nissan may also add the 3D navigation system as an option. Currently, prices range from US$12,000 to $15,500.

In Canada, the Versa will fill the gap in Nissan's lineup since the discontinuation of the Micra in 1991.
