The Hyundai i10 (called the Inokom i10 in Malaysia) is a city car (hatchback) produced by the Hyundai Motor Company, launched on 31 October 2007, manufactured only in India, at Hyundai's Chennai Plant — and sold globally. Replacing the Atos/Atos Prime/Amica/Santro (except in India, where the lower-priced Santro Xing is still being sold below it), it is marketed below the Getz and i20 (which replaces the Getz in most countries).

Engine and Transmission

Two variants (D-lite and Era) of Hyundai i10 are equipped with 1.1L, 1086cc, IRDE (Intelligent Responsive Drive Engine) petrol engine with manual transmission gearbox. This engine produces 66.7PS of maximum power at 5500rpm and maximum torque of 10.1kgm at 2500rpm. This IRDE engine of Hyundai i10 delivers high engine performance with good acceleration and makes this car able to cross the mark of 100kmph in just 15.55 seconds and to touch the top speed mark of 149kmph.

The other for variants (Magna, Sportz, Asta and Asta W Sunroof) of Hyundai i10 are powered by the new 1.2L, 1197 Kappa petrol engine with five speed manual transmission gearbox. This engine is more powerful in comparison to IRDE engine hence the acceleration of these variants are also good enabling them to cross the 100kmph mark in just 13.02 seconds and can achieve the top speed mark of 151kmph.

The rest three variants (Magna AT, Sportz AT Asta AT) of Hyundai i10 that are also powered by the Kappa engine but comes with automatic transmission gearbox offers bit lower acceleration. These two variants can touch the 100kmph mark in 16.27 seconds and can achieve top speed mark of 144kmph. As per the details available at Hyundai i10

Safety

Hyundai i10 comes with the advanced safety features that include : Dual Front SRS Airbag (Driver and Passenger Airbags provide cushioning in case of a collision). ABS (Anti Lock Brake System) that prevents wheel lockup during panic braking on slippery surface. The instrument cluster houses many warning lamps like seat belt warning, door and tailgate ajar warning and Airbag warning to help the driver to be informed at all times, thereby safety for all passengers. The multi reflector clear glasses fog lamp ensures maximum visibility for the driver in adverse weather conditions while adding to the sporty image of the car. Seatbelts lock in emergency situations such as rapid acceleration or deceleration. Also the sensor triggered pretensioners lighten the belt almost instantaneously to restrict movement to prevent occupants moving forward and hitting steering wheel and dashboard.
