First Generation/Origins (1962–1965)
The first generation Fairlane had a unibody frame like the Ford Falcon. Only two and four door sedans were available. In the middle of 1962 the Sports Coupe came out. Also in 1962 two station wagon models came out. In 1963 pillarless hardtop coupes came out for the Fairlane 500 and Sports Coupe models. The center console on the Sports Coupe model was now similar to the Ford Galaxie. The Falcon's front also looked like the Galaxie's front. The Squire model came out for 1963 only. In 1964 the Fairlane got a new front and tailfins were dropped. In 1965 the was less chrome on the Falcon.
