Hybrid Models

At the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, BMW launched the BMW ActiveHybrid X6. The hybrid crossover utilizes two 57 kW Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) powered electric motors augmenting the twin-turbo 4.4 litre V8. Total output is 480 hp and 575 lb-ft of torque harnessed via a seven-speed dual-mode transmission and put to the ground through BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive system. The are no fuel economy figures yet for the hybrid X6 because as of writing the EPA has yet to test it, however, 0-60 mph (100 kph) acceleration is over in 5.4 seconds and top whack is pegged at 130 mph.
